Day 2 evening post...Here is a picture of each boy

The classes are in full swing and new skills are being learned at every turn.  I have discovered this a huge camp with dirt roads and paths that never seem to end.  Several of the boys have events on opposite sides of the camp.  They came to me to see if we could calculate how far they are walking and if we could count it as a 10 mile hike.  I got a map out and calculated from the water front to the climbing wall is actually 1.2 miles so the 10 minutes between classes might not be enough time.

Here is a picture or two of each boy:

Logan in the canoe class

Lakota and Cole getting ready to swamp canoes.  The lake is  46 degrees today.

Cordon and Mason getting ready to head off to the Nature Center

Ty holding our Troop Flag for morning flag ceremony

Trenton dominating at the archery range...no joke he is schooling everyone.

Mason in Nature and Mammal studies

Dallin getting ready to go to the dining hall.

Harmon at the climbing wall.
8 of the 9 boys are in Orienteering.  So tonight 9 of the 9 boys are going to go participate in the night time orienteering course.  The boys have also gone above and beyond keeping camp clean and orderly.  They got 110 our of 105 points on their inspection today.  This was the only perfect plus score in the entire camp.  The next question I have for the boys at least my own son is "Why can't you do that at home with your bedroom?"

Afternoon post of day 2

The boys have kept track of great quotes or little tidbits of wisdom that they would like me to pass on:

  • I cant wait for school to start I just love learning.  Cole Heck
  • I lost all my money now what I supposed to do? Said Mason Nichols.  You could start selling organs to pay for candy replied Dallin Hallam.
  • The squirrels are attacking us soon we will be the only survivors in Camp.
  • What?!  We have to actually hit the targets in archery?  Ty Evans
  • What would happen if I took a picture of the sun?

Picture of the sun

  • Conversation from last night:
boy 1: I forgot my towel, let me use yours.
boy 2: No it was on your packing list you should have brought it.
boy1: My mom packed for me.
boy 2: It looks like you should have a talk with your mom.
boy 1: Fine I will just use my dirty clothes as towel

Ty got into a fight with a chain attached between 2 posts and he lost.  He was running and did not see it.  He now has 3 really cool red marks that closely resemble a chain on his right hip.  It has been officially decided that Ty's super power are not super strength or seeing in the dark.  It is getting "cool" injuries.

I like swimming with bug spray on it leaves and oil ring on tops of the water.  Logan May

Harmon looks like Bigfoot when he wears his gilly suit.  He should hide on the side of the road in the dark and walk out and say hello to people as they walk by.  It could be counted as service.

Each morning we have a flag ceremony in our campsite. Here are a couple of photos from Tuesday morning.

Day One of Camp

Our camp day started before 5:00 for us.  We met at the church and were surprised with fresh made cinnamon rolls from Sister Heck. We drove and got camp set up.  The boys went to their afternoon classes and took their swim tests.  Here are a few snapshots from the day:

Getting our tour of Camp Morrison

Ty doing what Ty does...beyond that we are not sure what this photos is about

Cole taking lessons from Ty

Lunch, hot dogs, chips and watermelon
Getting ready for the Fire Bowl program to start

Lining up for dinner and evening flag.  This is a good looking group of young men.

Today was more about getting things figured out.  Tommorrow the boys will be in their classes all day.
